May’s additions are filled with day-one new releases
Last month, Xbox announced the highest tier of Xbox Game Pass would be dropping in price. Game Pass Ultimate is now $22.99 a month, down from $29.99 (but still more than the $19.99 price it was at before October of last year). Just because the price is cheaper now, however, don’t expect the library of games to get worse. In fact, May 2026’s first wave of additions is absolutely stacked with a new AAA Xbox title and several must-play indies all arriving as day-one additions.
Forza Horizon 6 is the long-running racing series’ next entry. It’s an open-world racing game set in Japan that feels more down-to-earth than previous over-the-top entries based on what we’ve played so far. Though, don’t expect it to get too down-to-earth. Anime fans will want to check it out as Forza Horizon 6 may end up including a full-sized Gundam, and fans have already spotted Initial D‘s Mt. Akina on its map. Forza Horizon 6 will feature over 550 cars and a variety of ways to race them, like its campaign, Time Attack Circuits, and Drag Meets. It’ll be available May 19.
While a new Forza is certainly the most attention-grabbing addition to the Game Pass library this month, those looking for their next indie adventure won’t have to look far. Mixtape is a nostalgia-heavy, narrative-focused game about three high school friends on their last night together. Call of the Elder Gods has you investigating a Lovecraftian mystery. In Outbound, you turn a camper van into your highly customizable cozy home on wheels. Subnautica 2 once again finds you exploring an underwater alien world and cataloging its creatures, but this time you can do it in co-op with friends. All four of these new releases will be day-one additions to Game Pass.
