It’s a great day to be a Resident Evil Requiem fan, because Capcom has stealth-launched a brand-new minigame mode for the survival horror title. What’s even better is that it’s a free update, available right now on all platforms.
Called Leon Must Die Forever, the mode truly does stick Leon in an endless nightmare. You must clear numerous stages while “unlocking exclusive enhancer abilities,” according to Capcom’s note on the official trailer on YouTube. The mode unlocks if you’ve completed the story, which explains why developers were recently suggesting players hurry up and finish the game.
“The fast-paced action is distinct from the main story mode, and is packed with replay value,” Capcom said. “Can you make it to the end alive and defeat the boss within the time limit?” Fancy even more of a challenge? There are multiple difficulty levels available, including an “extreme high-difficulty mode for only the most confident players.”
Since the update shadow-dropped overnight, some players have gone hands-on already. According to Reddit user WinterOf98, the mode is “harder than Resident Evil 4’s Mercenaries [mode] and definitely demands a bit more strategy on your part. Pretty fun.”
This isn’t the only update on the way for Requiem. In March, game director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed a story expansion is in development, but also explained that “it will take some time, so we ask for your patience.”
The Leon Must Die Forever mode is available now for Resident Evil Requiem on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2.
