Netflix has announced a global concert tour for its smash hit animated movie, KPop Demon Hunters. The show is described as “a live experience that will bring elements of the two-time Oscar-winning film to life in spectacular ways.” Netflix is partnering with the massive concert promoter AEG Presents on the tour.
And… that’s it. There are no further details on the tour, including when it will take place, when tickets will go on sale, or what cities and countries the tour will visit.
Nor is there any information on who will be performing. Many fans might assume they’ll be seeing the singing voices of Huntr/x — Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — who have spent the past few months performing “Golden” and other songs from the movie at the Oscars and on chat shows. But that’s not a given.
According to a Bloomberg report from March, when discussions about the tour were still under way, Netflix was considering “using only virtual performers, be they holograms or something else.” It hadn’t ruled out bringing the singing trio on tour, but it was “unlikely the three women would perform at every stop.” At the time, the aim was to mount the tour in 2027.
Ejae, Nuna, and Ami had never performed together before promoting the movie, and Ejae has spoken about how physically demanding “Golden” is to sing. However, according to Bloomberg, talent agency WME has proposed an unofficial tour with the trio should they not be included in Netflix’s tour.
As a songwriter on “Golden” and other songs from the movie, Ejae will be getting paid either way. And thanks to their recent and incredibly lucrative sequel deal with Netflix, KPop Demon Hunters directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will be consulted on the tour.
Netflix promised more information about the tour, including cities, dates, and on-sale details, later this year. You can sign up for more information at the tour’s official website.
