After teasing it on social media with a clip emulating a scene from a heist movie, Dropout released a full trailer for Game Changer season 8 on Monday. Narrated by host Sam Reich like he’s planning a Steven Soderbergh-esque heist, the trailer shows that season 8 might be Game Changer’s biggest and most chaotic season yet. “Crazy episode so far, huh, guys?” Very Important People host Vic Michaelis says at one point while covered in a slime-like concoction.
Returning Dropout favorites are confirmed for season 8, like Jeremy Culhane, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson. The games they’re going to be playing are anyone’s guess, but the trailer offers plenty of hints. One is assuredly a game “samer” starring Demi Adejuyigbe, Anna Garcia, and Josh Ruben, as you can see the trio sporting the black velcro jumpsuits from the season 7 episode “Rulette.” The players spin a giant wheel full of rules and must follow the rule they get for as long as it’s attached to their jumpsuit.
Culhane, Wilson, and Ally Beardsley seem sucked into Game Changer‘s version of Candy Land, complete with a cucumber sticking out from Wilson’s, uh, nether region. After getting his own version of The Bachelor in season 5, Grant O’Brien appears in the trailer amid a sea of lookalikes, hinting that he could star in another O’Brien-centric episode. Dimension 20‘s Mulligan appears getting mad at Reich, promising at least one more of his famous crashouts.
Game Changer has grown quite a bit since its first season while still maintaining what makes it so unique and fun — the fact that its players have no idea what they’ll be doing until the game starts. Some of last season’s highlights include “Outvoted,” where a live studio audience voted Michaelis as Honorary President of Dropout, as well as “Samalamadingdong,” when Mulligan turned the tables on Sam Reich, changing him from host to contestant for an episode. It also included “Crowd Control,” which was spun off into its own show, like Make Some Nosie was. Game Changer has quickly become one of Dropout’s most popular shows, and soon you’ll be able to play it at home.
The 10-episode eighth season of Game Changer will premiere on May 18 on Dropout.tv. Like with the streamer’s other shows, new episodes will drop every other week.
