The “Explore the Lab” quest in Tides of Tomorrow is all about finding the correct sample at the Lazarus Facility. Unless you’re willing to sacrifice Eyla’s health or your own, it’s important to solve this tricky puzzle and leave this mysterious underwater lab unscathed, though it will require a hidden key, four clues, and careful thinking.
Here’s how to pick the correct sample in Tides of Tomorrow and complete the “Explore the Lab” quest at the Lazarus Facility.
How to find the correct sample in Tides of Tomorrow
Near the end of Act 2, during the “Join the Mystics’ Expedition” quest, you’ll be asked to explore the Delta Shipwreck. Once you’ve done that, you will enter a submarine to reach the underwater Lazarus Facility, where the “Explore the Lab” quest will start.
The first quest objective will ask you to check the document Eyla found. It’s on the desk, right beside her. Next, you must find the protocol procedure. Wait for Eyla to walk over to the next desk, then read the document in front of her.
Now you must find the key to the samples in Dr. Keel’s desk. It’s the desk opposite the sample device, near the locked doorway. Open the drawer to find the key.
Use the key to unlock the sample device (where Nahe and Eyla are waiting for you) and talk to Nahe. See the four samples in the box? Next, you must figure out which sample is correct. You can skip ahead to the solution below, or gather a total of four clues by reading every document in the room (they’re spread across the desks).
Here’s an overview of the clues:
- Total units must be under 8000 U.
- Egrases must be between 20 and 40 U.
- Evanesase must be under 300 U.
- Plastase must be above 6000 U.
To test a sample, grab it from the box and place it in the machine. The monitor will display its stats, so you can check whether it meets the requirements as listed above.
The only sample to meet every requirement, thus the solution to this puzzle, is the sample on the left. To double-check, here are the stats provided by the correct sample:
- Egrases (EG): 35 U
- Plastase (PL): 7500 U
- Evanesase (EV): 215 U
Tell Nahe you’ve found the correct sample. Doing so will complete the “Explore the Lab” quest in Tides of Tomorrow and start the “Test the Sample” quest, where you must choose whether to give the sample to Eyla or to yourself. Since you’ve grabbed the correct sample, you can be sure that whoever you choose will receive a health boost. So, if you’ve got enough ozen for yourself and would like to boost Eyla’s survival chances, best to pick her.
