If you need sulfur in Subnautica 2, be careful you don’t get burned. This yellow substance favors heated waters, which aren’t the most hospitable to humans. Once you’ve taken care of that problem, however, there’s a particular sulfur farming spot that should satisfy your demand for a while.
Here’s where to find sulfur in Subnautica 2.
[Ed. note: Before you dive in, be sure to open the character menu and enable all landmark signals. This will make it easier to spot the locations mentioned in this guide.]
Where to find sulfur in Subnautica 2
Sulfur looks like yellow crystals, a bit similar to salt. Like salt, you’ll need the heat tolerance adaptation to collect it, as sulfur spawns near lava geysers. To get this adaptation, follow the “main story” by chasing new signals and interacting with every blackbox. Once you’ve obtained a sonic resonator and used it to reach the Wander Blackbox and cure the Angel Comb, place your hand on the Angel Comb to unlock heat tolerance. This is the third adaptation you’ll receive, following pressure tolerance and digestion.
Should you really need some sulfur before unlocking heat tolerance, you can find two small pieces near Chap’s Blackbox, 220 meters southeast of the Lifepod. Leave the hatch, exit the cave to the left, and you’ll see the two sulfur pieces ahead of you.
You can use your newfound sulfur to make strong acids and advanced wiring kits, which, in turn, will unlock more advanced technologies.
The best sulfur farming location in Subnautica 2
The best place to find sulfur in Subnautica 2 is at the edge of the lava region, 250 meters south-southeast of the Lifepod. You can also find this place by swimming to Chap’s Blackbox and moving 90 meters northeast of there.
The sulfur deposits are stacked onto a large pillar that almost reaches the surface. There are large Coral Crabs and a human-made platform nearby.
If you circle around the pillar, you should find four large sulfur deposits (break them with the sonic resonator), three medium deposits, and a few loose pieces. Together, it’s enough to harvest 24 sulfur pieces. If you still need more sulfur, there are several small pieces on the adjacent rock formation to the southeast, as well as on the large fiery coral structures to the northeast.
