The Riven Tides update gives me multiple reasons to return to Arc Raiders
Embark Studios has outlined what players can expect from the Riven Tides, the next Arc Raiders update. It rolls out on April 28 and is shaping up to be the biggest update the extraction shooter has received since its launch last October.
Riven Tides delivers two things Arc Raiders players have been wanting for some time: a new map and a new large Arc foe. The new map shares a name with this update and is set in the Rust Belt. It features a coastline, a resort, and a dockyard for players to scavenge and fight their way through. The trailer suggests that Riven Tides will have a very different vibe from the other Arc Raiders maps.
The Arc Turbine delivers on Embark’s promise to add a new large Arc to the game before the end of April. The cone-shaped Arc Turbine seems like it’ll be very tough to take down, as it flies and has defensive measures to fight back against the raiders tracking it. If you prefer not to fight as much, beachcombing for loot with the Dockmaster’s Detector is an option on the Riven Tides map thanks to a new minor map condition.
The update will also add a new Avian Alarm five-stage raider project, new cosmetics, PSSR support on PlayStation 5 Pro, and the start of a new Expedition window that will last until May 11. A limited-time event called Last Resort will also run between April 28 and May 25. This event encourages players to find ship models to earn Merits, which can net them Raider Tokens, the Junior Outfit, and the Hydrologist backpack.
While I’ve lapsed in playing Embark’s extraction shooter lately, all of these substantial additions to the game are tempting me to come back more than any other update so far this year. The Riven Tides update will arrive for Arc Raiders on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on Tuesday, April 28.

It could do for extraction shooters what Fortnite did for battle royales
