Magic: The Gathering’s artwork is exquisite, but it’s certainly a bit unsettling at times. Between monstrous insects, zombies, and whatever the Phyrexians are up to, Bloomburrow felt like a wonderful change of pace when it launched in 2024.
It took players to a plane where creatures range from frogs to raccoons, and included four commander decks which were all pretty great. If you missed out on it, you can catch up quite easily at Amazon.
The retailer has an 18% discount on the Bloomburrow Commander Deck Bundle, which includes all four preconstructed decks. That brings it down to $154.98, or each deck for around $40.
We’ll start with the obvious big hitter: Mrs. Bumbleflower from the Peace Offering deck. Legendary within the Magic community for its commitment to the bit, this card will have your pals drawing cards and feeling relaxed until the time is right to strike.
In fact, according to EDHREC, she’s the ninth most popular commander in the format right now, even ahead of mainstays like Lathril, Blade of the Elves, and Tarkir Dragonstorm’s Teval, the Balanced Scale.
Next up, Bello, Bard of the Brambles, from the Animated Army, deck turns artifacts and enchantments to 4/4 elemental creatures, gives them indestructible, and generates card draw as it dishes out damage.
A friend of mine plays with the Family Matters deck, helmed by Zinnia, Valley’s Voice and has done pretty well with it. It leans on the Offspring Mechanic to get you a ton of small creatures that power up Zinnia, while also triggering ETB effects as you create copies of cards.
Finally, I have Squirreled Away in my collection. Its commander is Hazel of the Rootbloom, who can tap tokens for mana, as well as doubling up any tokens. It can even triple squirrel tokens.
Four fun playstyles with unique commanders in a bundle that makes them much more affordable? I’m tempted. Peace Offering alone can sell for as much as $65 on the secondary market, so it’s well worth checking out this deal if you’re keen on picking it up — maybe a buddy can chip in for a deck or two.
