A lot of fun Pokémon merchandise has been released this year, like a mini Pokémon jukebox that was announced as part of the 30-year anniversary celebration of Pokémon. There’s also this beautiful Snorlax rug that, I’m sorry to say, you’ll likely never own. Next on the docket is a limited edition of the upcoming Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide, due out in August. If you want it, you’ll have to act fast as the book is already selling out at some retailers.
The Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide is packed full of information on every single Pokémon, from #1 Bulbasaur to #1025 Pecharunt. For some, it’ll feature information about their appearances in the card game, video games, and animated series and movies. As it’s only 336 pages, plenty of the 1,025 Pokémon have to share pages. But, of course, Pikachu gets a whole chapter. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
The limited edition Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide will be released on Aug. 25 for $199.99. It will include a deluxe collector’s box and several bonus items: a certificate of authenticity, a Pikachu envelope for the certificate, two video game prints, two animation prints, and a Pokémon Trading Card Game play mat.
While still in stock at retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble at the time of this writing, the limited edition has already sold out elsewhere. Walmart lists it as out of stock and Target says pre-orders have sold out. You can head to distributor Simon & Schuster’s website for a look at which national retailers have the book still available for pre-order.
The regular edition Pokémon Deluxe Character Guide will likely remain in stock, however. It will be released on the same day for $59.99 and will include just the book — though the book itself is still a thing of beauty. It includes a ribbon bookmark, Pikachu end papers, and gilded edges.
