Two for the price of zero
Though we usually know a week in advance what games the Epic Games Store is offering for free, this week’s new titles were a mystery, something Epic usually reserves for the holiday season. Once revealed, those surprises weren’t a letdown — a couple of great PC games are now free to claim. You can snag Telltale’s Batman series and a hit TTRPG game for a limited time.
The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition
The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition collects both seasons of Telltale’s choice-based Batman adventure, Batman: The Telltale Series and Batman: The Enemy Within. Starring Troy Baker as Batman, you’ll explore the “fractured psyche” of Bruce Wayne while investigating the corruption plaguing Gotham City. The sequel season, The Enemy Within, brings several supervillains into the fold, like the Riddler and Harley Quinn. The Shadows Mode for both titles features remastered and recolored visuals that make them almost look like black-and-white games with dashes of color. Both Telltale Batman games have thousands of “Very Positive” player reviews on Steam.
Sunderfolk
Also on offer is Sunderfolk, a tactical RPG that translates the feel of a tabletop game night into a video game. You can play online multiplayer or couch co-op with players’ phones being used as controllers. “[Sunderfolk is] a story of good and evil, filled with fantasy and animals and magic, and ready-made to take a crew through some haphazard adventures,” Polygon wrote in its review. And we’re not alone in enjoying its digital board game feel as Sunderfolk has over 1,600 “Very Positive” reviews on Steam.
If The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition or Sunderfolk catch your eye, all you need to do is log in to the Epic Games Store and claim them. The games will be free until Thursday, May 21, at 11 a.m. EDT.
